Broken Window Seals on your Orlando Home Inspection

 realMany times on a home inspection we find broken window seals. But what does this mean? How can this be fixed?

First of all, these broken window seals are easily spotted. On an insulated window, there are two layers of glass with an inert gas between them. When the seal fails that holds the inert gas in, moisture develops between the layers of glass.

This gives the window a wet or hazy look to it. Many times it makes the window look like it needs to be cleaned, but it never gets cleaned no matter how hard you scrub it. But what does this mean for you exactly?

Well, it does reduce the energy efficiency of the window. But the loss in efficiency is so slight that you would likely have to professionally test the window to be able to even notice the difference. In reality, it is more of a nuisance than anything else.

The good news is that it can be fixed. You can always replace the window, but there are companies that repair windows that have a broken seal and they are usually very successful at it. So if you have a widow that looks like the one above, consider having it fixed before you replace it.
