![]() Does your home have a grinder pump? A grinder pump (or more technically a "sewer ejector pump") is necessary in some homes. If you have any kind of plumbing that is below the recommended level of your main sewer line you would normally have one installed. But what do they do? Well, most people are familiar with a sump pump. When water levels fill a sump pit the pump goes off and pushes the water outside. a grinder pump works in a lot of the same ways. It usually has a mastication mechanism in it to make the solids more fluid, but the principle is the same. If you live in Orlando and have a grinder pump, then they require maintenance. Be sure to have a qualified grinder pump company check it periodically and make sure the pump alarm is working - and if you don't have a pump alarm have one installed.
