![]() When was the last time you were in your attic? For most of my home inspection clients, the answer is "never" or "only when I have to". But your attic is a vital space in your home. How so? The attic of a home has been called the "lungs" of a house. It's where your house "breathes". It's a good illustration too. Warm air goes in one direction - up. As air flows and moves through a house, the attic area can make or break it. Now, it isn't that the air from your house is connected to the air in your attic, but they do work together as a whole. So if your attic has trouble "breathing", you will likely develop issues. One of these issues is mold in the attic. Sometimes you develop mold o your ceilings as well. Y/The mold in the attic is usually caused by static air in the attic from poor/blocked/missing ventilation. The mold on ceilings is a different story though. That is usually caused by temperature differences between the living space and the attic - the same thing that happens to a cold water bottle on a hot summer day. So is your attic ventilation working? Contact us and find out!
